By Ray Barrington News-Chronicle George Bush the elder called for a "kinder, gentler" country after running a vicious campaign against Michael Dukakis. Bush the younger called himself a "compassionate conservative" and is running another vicious campaign. These guys are rich; can't they afford a dictionary? Attention John Kerry: Vietnam is over. It's 2004. Please report for duty for your campaign. Attention Ralph Nader: The 1960s are over. It's 2004. You've become a joke. Go away. There, I think we've hit everyone. They're still discussing whether politicians should pay for "extraordinary" expenses when they come to Green Bay. What are extraordinary expenses? Nobody can say. It's like pornography; apparently, the City Council knows it when they see it. May I suggest that an "extraordinary expense" be any security that keeps a law-abiding citizen from seeing a candidate just because he won't sign a paper supporting that candidate?
